Hard reset and a clean install question

this may noob question read lot here "hard reset" , "clean install" possibly fix battery issues. how do this? there particular steps should followed? have 4s 5.1 updated ota. in advance.

 

plug connect iphone itunes. on main screen click "restore". follow instructions. right set iphone "new phone" when prompted. not restore form up.
