FCP X, how do you split events/clips?

hi,

have project many video events on timeline. split of events can enhance audio on sections not on whole clip. can add keyframes/markers can alter volume/gain in specific parts, if want use other enhancements such noise reduction applies whole clip. therefore split clip sections can apply noise reduction etc 1 or more of sections.
