Windows 7 Ultimate (on Boot Camp) freezes xfer files from ext HD to Windows Desktop

i have 2011 15" macbook pro 2.3ghz intel core i7 4gb 1333 ddr3.

through boot camp run windows 7 ultimate. try transfer sketchup file (.skp) lacie external hd windows desktop, desktop freezes. external hd formatted pc , macs.

1. there safe way reboot on windows partition when desktop freezes?

2. why having trouble copying file external hd windows desktop?

has run these problems? comments appreciated.
