Find My iPhone - Macbook Pro - How does this work?

with icloud interface find iphone, app on iphone itself, having trouble locating macbook pro.

iphone uses gps locate, macbook pro, says 'offline' , unable physically locate laptop. :|

can help?

 

is mac "on", "connected" wi-fi network, , icloud setup under system prefs?

provided above have been done, , still not locate, there's deeper problem. make sure have latest software updates.

however, if mean mac won't come when it's off/sleep mode or not connected wi-fi, naturally won't located there's no way of sending/receiving signal macbook. in case, might need way remotely start/wake mac , make sure it's connected wi-fi.
