at&t instructs me not to use iMessage to save data

i canceled text message plan them once got imessage.

part of "top 5% of users" debacle, inquired ways can save on data.

told me turn off imessages (today. before, told me turn off icloud).

asked him if using at&t's texting uses data - said no.

told him looking @ detailed bill, , shows texting (including pictures , video) contributing total data usage.

admitted does.

asked him, how not using imessage make difference?

said because imessage uses data.

lol. around , around went. asked him - if use at&t texting , mms same way use imessage, wouldn't same amount of data? conceded would.

asked him why suggest stop using imessage?

incredulously - said not becoming part of top 5%.

look, when act dumb, lying.

long people try avoid being in top 5%, stop using things imessage (per instructions), stop using netflix (an at&t competitor), etc. (btw, don't use netflix or pandora, i'm casual user, iphone 4s not jb'd , don't tether. reached 2gb "threshold" anyway.)

recommend people call them , engage them , keep them on phone hour waste time , money , let them know, did, rather switch $30/3gb plan (what trying accomplish), switch verizon instead.

regular text messages not use data.

mms does, depending on how at&t has configured things, shouldn't pay data uses.
