New iMac today, possible shared usage of external hard drive?

i due new imac delivered today , wondered if answer question me. old imac 2006 imac had 160gb storage. therefore purchase external hard drive while ago , wondered if there possibility of networking new , old imac can put external hard drive on 1 of imacs , access data on there other imac?

 

you can enable file sharing in system preferences > sharing, connect external hdd new imac.

migration assistant / setup assistant information:

setting-up new mac old one, backups, or pc
which includes:

• using setup assistant on snow leopard or leopard
• using setup assistant on lion
• using migration assistant on snow leopard or leopard
• using migration assistant on lion
• transferring files 1 user account another
• transferring home folders not on startup volume
• transferring applications
• problems after using migration assistant
