i seem remember last 2 ipad launches small number of people ordered on-line got ipads day before official launch.
think apple sent out of more rural orders early, arrive on same day urban ones, post service bit quicker expected.

i'm getting mine delivered semi-rural scotland. got "your order has shipped" email on 10th, , told expect on 16th.
seems long shipping time, if coming china.
used work in major logistics company , can send package point-to-point pretty anywhere in developed world in 4-5 days max.
what they'll request package not delivered before 16th. in rare cases, in extremely rural areas, post won't run on 16th , they'll deliver 15th.
if in using fedex, chance of getting if local fedex gets overloaded packages needing delivered. customer apple, package holding still on "as space provides" basis.
