Messages does not work with Google Talk

hello macrumors forums
today found out mac os x mountain lion has come out (a sneak peak), , messages beta has been available.
when installed , tried message friend google talk, wouldn't send.
messages kept on telling me person did not have imessage, , couldn't send word.
else having problem? know messages still in beta, think messages shouldn't flawed beta.

and you've added gtalk account in preferences?
