Making my Mac more secure

what steps can take make osx secure possible? mean both secure in safe malware , secure in event of being stolen or lost?

while had password prompt set when returned screensaver, other day did notice glaring door meant if rebooted in without password (as separate setting). i'm starting wonder other backdoors i'm missing.

right now, security measures thus: password required on login/wake, keychain , other important settings password protected, online passwords handled lastpass (not sure if makes more secure or not), , firewall on. have kensington lock physically lock desk when i'm using in library etc. have clamavx real antivirus/malware protection can think of.

there things don't know how guard against- such running live linux cd access data. i've looked filevault heard lot of stories bricking hard drives, , since i'm spend $250 upgrading macbook ssd , new hdd, i'm not sure how want risk that. there other way prevent accessing drives live cd or physically removing hdd , plugging in sata cable?

wan't fort knox-ify macbook as possible. advice welcome. cheers!

in case of being lost, suggest use prey. also, if you're worried file security, keep disk image (.dmg) private files. suggest use firmware password, however, if do, unable use prey in case laptop stolen. unable use find mac.
