Car for graduation; need advice please!

hi everyone,

graduating may , lucky enough getting car graduation gift. not car person, i'm looking advice far looking for.

here criteria:
$20k limit
sedan or suv
audio system (this important.. enjoy music in car , don't want spend money on aftermarket system)
fun/sporty/respectable
awd/4wd
decent mpg.. nothing gets <15 mpg
model year 2007+
<60,000 miles
reliable, obviously
not super expensive maintain

car gift, else (repairs, insurance, gas, etc.) on me. have job in finance starting in july.

have been looking @ 2007/2008 bmw 328xi, think should other opinions too. perhaps jeep grand cherokee?

 

a few random , quick thoughts.

- suvs costly. you'll spend more on gas, , insurance higher. unless need one, i'd opt sedan. ...besides, suvs aren't 'fun/sporty/respectable' once were.

- there reason need awd? live in snow? ask because sounds useful (who doesn't want option of driving in snow, once year?) add initial expense , possibly more expensive repairs. limits sedan options significantly (especially if you're buying used).

- jeep doesn't meet 'reliability' criterion, though know disagree me on this.

- bmws 'super expensive maintain'.

- , 15 mpg not decent. if go route of sedan, should getting near (or over) 30 mpg.

if need awd, subaru. since of vehicles awd, it'll easier find used one.
