i have issue when restart late 2011 15" mbp. hang on shut down. closes , osx goes away freezes on grey screen spinning wheel. looks working keeps doing that, left going overnight once. option manual turn off pressing power button. ideas or solutions problem appreciated.
when have mac behaving badly in way similar describe, "archive , install". on lion, involves booting while holding ctrl , picking lion recovery partition. once there, pick "install" default install on existing install deleting nothing. of course before doing install, recommend doing fresh backup. if using time machine, start new backup in new location forces copied fresh new backup , if goes wrong have fresh backup restore or migrate from.
more severe option wipe , install , migrate recent time machine backup. severe option wipe , install followed manually copying files , applications want keep.
