Need new MBA... i5 or i7??

hello everyone,

2008 1st gen mba crapping out on me. started kernal panics couple weeks ago, tried clean up, sound won't work (greyed out) , itunes won't play music or video (stays @ 0:00). think logic board going out again. i've had refurbished once in 2010 through apple, i'm ready upgrade!

planning on 11", 4gb model, traveling more work. wondering if should go i5 or upgrade i7.

use machine streaming video, itunes, word, excel, , basic web surfing (nyt, wash post, insideline, cnet etc.... )

notice huge difference between i5 , i7?

sorry elementary question, wanted feedback.

 

the i5 should more suffice computational needs.
