Mid 2009 Macbook won't boot

ok,

opened matchbook pro (15" mid-2009) today start working , password screen shows up, there spinning beach ball of doom. wait few minutes, force computer off. when try boot, after putting in password (i running full disk encryption) shows apple , spinning wheel says doing stuff, keeps doing that. never boots up.

put in install disk , booted , shows internal drive unmounted , won't mount disk utilities. thinking because of full disk encryption, not sure. there anyway run disk utilities' repair on encrypted disk installation dvd?

screwed here?

not screwed since under applecare (just barely) , have appointment tomorrow, looking helpful info before can go in informed.

hard drive cable. replaced , good.
