3914 Error with iphone 3gs on iOS 3.0.1

hi, wondering if can me on this.

have iphone 3gs ios 3.0.1. have never upgraded it. yesterday, decided want jailbreak , unlock can use on network. updated itunes , used redsn0w 0.8 jailbreak phone , success. when clicked on cydia , added repo666.ultrasn0w unlock it, froze phone few minutes. cydia reset. everytime go cydia, boot me menu. restarted phone few times , still booted me menu immediately. tried jailbreak again again, same thing happened. decided wipe data , start over. erased , apple logo appeared. put dfu mode.

downloaded ipsw file can keep 3.0.1. however, when shift-restore on windows xp, gave me 3914 error. tried method of going windows c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts, , added ip address, etc. still doesn't work. advice can keep ios 3.0.1 because preserve baseband can still unlock phone?
